Hello out there!

Hybrid Gallery Von Hauerland has received a vast number of artists applications, mostly painters. Artist from all corners of Bavaria are longing to present their work and tell the world about their creative story. It seems like a nobel position for the curator, but is it? There is lot to decide and a lot to consider and in the forefront is the mission of the gallery to pursuit its own vision. Things can get pretty tricky. But, sometimes you recognize instantly what you have to do.

I have reached out to Sandra earlier this year, I think it was mid February, now we are sort of end of April. So yeah, it took a while for things to shape up. But now it´s obvious the waiting was all worth it. Her large oil paintings soaked with magical realism have become a true highlight of the gallery´s spring collection.

A pack of small and quiet amusing animals which took over Sandra´s Instagram profile have caught my attention first. These funky, mostly small hamsters and seagulls wearing hats and sunglasses are very entertaining and compelling small sized oil paintings painted with high-end dutch oil paint substances. Those artworks were fun and captivating until I discovered Sandra´s large magical paintings. My pupils dilated quickly. Those are the canvases that make your heart go “boom”. Actually I am about to reserve one of them myself.

After discovering Sandra´s large canvases under thick layer of parachuting raccoons and coke sipping ducks it has become clear to me I have to write some more urging emails to Sandra to make sure this exhibition will happen. “Sandra, how does your calendar look like next month?”

We agreed to exhibit two large oil paintings and two semi-large oil paintings at first. Since they were installed on the physical art gallery walls I can´t get my eyes off of them. And the Hybrid Gallery Von Hauerland will do its best to convey the strenght of those paintings to all audiences interested in ultra contemporary art.
